OAuth Connection Approach
Connect OnlySocial to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants#
You can connect your OnlySocial account to an AI assistant, then ask it to work with your social media in plain language. For example:"What posts do I have scheduled for next week?"
"Draft a LinkedIn and X post announcing our webinar and schedule it for Tuesday at 10am."
"Upload this image and add it to my queue for Instagram."
The connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that many AI apps support. You sign in with your normal OnlySocial login, so you don't have to copy or paste any keys.
Before you start#
1.
An OnlySocial account with a verified email address. If you haven't verified your email yet, check your inbox for the verification link first.
2.
An AI app that supports MCP connectors, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Code. Some of these require a paid plan. Each section below lists what you need.
3.
Your OnlySocial MCP server URL:https://app.onlysocial.io/os/mcp
You'll paste this URL into your AI app. What the assistant can do once connected
It can do everything you can do in your workspaces: see your workspaces, connected social accounts, posts, tags and media, and create, edit, schedule, publish and delete posts. Only connect apps you trust, and check what the assistant plans to do before you approve actions like publishing or deleting.
How signing in works (all apps)#
You go through the same steps in every app:1.
You add OnlySocial to your AI app using the MCP server URL.
2.
The app opens an OnlySocial sign-in page in your browser.
3.
You sign in with your OnlySocial email and password, plus your two-factor code if you've turned that on.
4.
You see a screen that says "[App name] wants to access your OnlySocial account". It lists what the app will be able to do and which website you'll be sent back to.
5.
Click Allow access. You're sent back to your AI app and the connection is ready.
If you click Cancel, the app gets no access.You stay connected. The app refreshes its access in the background, so you won't be asked to sign in every time. If you don't use the connection for about 30 days, you'll need to sign in again.
Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop and the Claude mobile app)#
You need: a Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan. On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization Owner may need to add the connector first.Add the connector#
1.
Open Claude on the web or in Claude Desktop.
2.
Go to Settings โ Connectors.
3.
Click Add custom connector.
5.
Leave any Advanced settings (OAuth Client ID / Secret) empty. OnlySocial registers Claude automatically.
6.
Click Add, then click Connect next to OnlySocial.
7.
Sign in to OnlySocial in the browser window that opens, then click Allow access.
Team and Enterprise: an Owner adds the connector under Organization settings โ Connectors. Each member then opens Settings โ Connectors and clicks Connect to sign in with their own OnlySocial account.Use it in a chat#
2.
Click the + (or tools) button below the message box and make sure OnlySocial is switched on.
3.
Ask Claude something, for example "List my OnlySocial workspaces."
You only add the connector once. It then also works in Claude Desktop and in the Claude mobile apps on iOS and Android.
ChatGPT#
You need: a ChatGPT plan that supports custom connectors (apps) through Developer mode, such as Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu. On Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, a workspace admin may need to turn this on.Add the connector#
1.
In ChatGPT, open Settings โ Apps & Connectors (some versions call this Connectors).
2.
Open Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
3.
Go back to Apps & Connectors and click Create (or Add custom connector).
4.
Description: Manage my OnlySocial posts, schedules and media
MCP Server URL: your OnlySocial MCP server URL
5.
Tick I trust this application, then click Create.
6.
When you're asked, sign in to OnlySocial and click Allow access.
Use it in a chat#
2.
Click the + button next to the message box, choose Developer mode (or More), and select OnlySocial.
3.
Ask ChatGPT something, for example "Show my scheduled posts on OnlySocial."
ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it runs actions that make changes, such as creating or deleting a post. Read the details before you confirm.OpenAI changes these menu names from time to time. If you can't find an option, search ChatGPT's help center for "Developer mode" or "custom connectors".
Claude Code (terminal)#
2.
Start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose onlysocial, then choose Authenticate.
3.
Your browser opens. Sign in to OnlySocial and click Allow access.
Cursor#
1.
Open Cursor Settings โ MCP (or Tools & Integrations) and click Add new MCP server. This opens your mcp.json file.
2.
{
"mcpServers": {
"onlysocial": {
"url": "https://app.onlysocial.io/os/mcp"
}
}
}
3.
Save the file. Next to onlysocial, click Needs login (or Connect).
4.
Sign in to OnlySocial in your browser and click Allow access. Cursor then reopens with the connection ready.
VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode)#
1.
Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Serverโฆ, then choose HTTP. You can also create the file .vscode/mcp.json yourself:{
"servers": {
"onlysocial": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://app.onlysocial.io/os/mcp"
}
}
}
2.
Click Start above the server entry.
3.
When VS Code asks whether to let OnlySocial sign you in, click Allow. Then sign in to OnlySocial and click Allow access.
4.
Open Copilot Chat in Agent mode. The OnlySocial tools appear in the tools list.
Other MCP apps#
You can use any app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in (sometimes called "Streamable HTTP" with "OAuth" or "dynamic client registration"). Give it the OnlySocial MCP server URL and leave any client ID and secret fields empty.If your app can only send a fixed access token and doesn't support OAuth sign-in, create a personal access token in OnlySocial under Access Tokens and use it as a Bearer token for the same MCP server URL. Keep that token secret, just like a password.
See and disconnect connected apps#
To see which apps can use your account, or to remove one:1.
Go to https://app.onlysocial.io/os/oauth/connections while you're signed in to OnlySocial.
2.
The Connected applications page lists each app, when you connected it and when it was last used.
3.
Click Disconnect next to an app. Its access stops straight away.
You can also remove the connector inside the AI app itself (for example Settings โ Connectors in Claude). It's still a good idea to disconnect it in OnlySocial too.If you change your mind later, just add the connector again and sign in.
Troubleshooting#
| What you see | What to do |
|---|
| "Verify your email address before connecting applications." | Open the verification email from OnlySocial and click the link, then try connecting again. |
| "This authorization request has expired. Start connecting again from your application." | The sign-in page was left open too long (more than about 10 minutes). Go back to your AI app and click Connect again. |
| "This application is not registered. Remove the connector and add it again." | Delete the OnlySocial connector in your AI app, add it again with the same URL, and reconnect. |
| "The redirect address sent by this application is not registered for it." | Remove the connector and add it again. If it still happens, your app may not be supported yet. Contact support and tell them which app you're using. |
| The app says it couldn't connect or authentication failed | Check that you pasted the MCP server URL exactly, with no spaces or extra characters at the end and with https:// at the start. Then try again. |
| The assistant can't see your posts or accounts | Make sure the OnlySocial connector or tools are switched on for that chat, then ask it to "list my OnlySocial workspaces" to check the connection. |
| You were connected before but now get sign-in errors | You may have disconnected the app, or not used it for more than 30 days. Click Connect in your AI app and sign in again. |
| Nothing happens when you click Allow access | Allow pop-ups and redirects for your AI app's website, or try a different browser. |
